Alpaca seeks a Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Internal Tools to join its globally distributed team. Alpaca is a US-headquartered licensed financial services company and global brokerage infrastructure provider offering APIs for stocks, options, crypto, ETFs, and fixed income to hundreds of institutions and millions of accounts. Backed by major investors, the organization employs over 400 people across multiple countries.
In this remote, full-time position, the engineer will design, build, and maintain frontend dashboards and backend systems for internal tools, including features like paper accounts and high-yield cash. The role suits experienced technical professionals who possess strong expertise across both frontend and backend development, appreciate design aesthetics, and enjoy mentoring others.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain frontend applications and backend services
- Develop user experience and product features for internal tools customers
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional team members
- Contribute to API design and product features within the ecosystem
- Manage the delivery of high-visibility features from design through deployment
- Mentor peers and guide technical strategy
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience utilizing a modern systems programming language such as Rust, C++, or Golang
- Three or more years of frontend development experience using React and TypeScript
- Proficiency with relational databases and SQL, with a preference for PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS frameworks including TailwindCSS
- Demonstrated history of developing user-facing features from end to end
- Familiarity with WebSocket best practices and REST APIs
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Qualifications
- Background in algorithmic trading, either professional or personal
- Familiarity with major cloud platforms, primarily Google Cloud Platform
- Knowledge or understanding of financial markets
- Previous experience working at a startup environment
- Prior remote work experience
