Job Description
NetBox Labs is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join its Observability team. The organization builds network automation solutions centered around NetBox, helping modern infrastructure teams manage and observe complex networks. In this hands-on role, the chosen professional will take end-to-end ownership of features spanning both backend and frontend systems.
The position involves developing Go and Python services, gRPC application programming interfaces, and data pipelines that handle network telemetry and discovery. On the client side, the engineer will construct React and TypeScript monitoring dashboards that present network and device health metrics to users in real time. The person filling this vacancy will collaborate closely with product management, design, and engineering colleagues while participating in production on-call duties.
This opportunity is well-suited for a software professional with extensive experience building distributed, event-driven architectures and performance-oriented observability dashboards. Daily responsibilities include deploying automated testing routines, utilizing artificial intelligence development assistants, mentoring teammates, and helping steer technical architecture to support scaling environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services utilizing Go and Python for device discovery, assurance, and data ingestion
- Develop and maintain gRPC and REST application programming interfaces with Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI contracts
- Construct React and TypeScript telemetry dashboards featuring real-time health data, charts, and drill-down navigation
- Collaborate with backend engineers on efficient query and aggregation routines to maintain performance at scale
- Implement type-safe integrations between client and server layers using generated clients and shared schemas
- Participate in the engineering group on-call rotation to support managed production services
- Write automated unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests while enforcing continuous integration quality gates
- Leverage artificial intelligence coding assistants and agentic workflows to accelerate development tasks safely
- Review peer code, guide coworkers on architectural best practices, and contribute to technical planning sessions
Requirements
- More than five years of professional software engineering experience with production backgrounds in both backend and frontend development
- Production experience in Go and Python, featuring strength in at least one and working proficiency in the other
- Hands-on background creating and operating gRPC services with Protocol Buffers, covering streaming, error handling, and schema evolution
- Familiarity with distributed, event-driven systems including message queues like RabbitMQ or Kafka and idempotent data ingestion
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for component composition, state management, and typing
- Proven history of developing monitoring, analytics, or observability dashboards with complex data visualizations and performance optimizations
- Regular practical utilization of artificial intelligence coding assistants like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot across workflows
- Strong communication capabilities and collaborative skills suited for small cross-functional teams
Qualifications
- Familiarity with core networking protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, LLDP, and CDP
- Experience dealing with network telemetry interfaces such as SNMP and gNMI or streaming telemetry
- Background using NetBox, network automation frameworks, or custom environment agents
- Exposure to OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or time-series databases like Mimir, InfluxDB, and ClickHouse
- Development experience involving Grafana panels, plugins, or user-configurable dashboard tools
- Experience constructing artificial intelligence product features using large language model application programming interfaces or model context protocols
