NetBox Labs is hiring a Senior Software Backend Engineer to join its Foundations team, which acts as the platform group responsible for core services such as authentication, identity, access control, and shared platform primitives. In this full-time position, the professional will spearhead the delivery of intricate components for Foundations initiatives, operate as a subject matter expert in areas like access control or identity, and guide projects from the initial design phase through to production.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical expert for specific platform domains including authentication, identity, and access control
- Collaborate across teams to design and construct platform backend services
- Manage the complete lifecycle of complex components within Foundations projects from design to production
- Deconstruct large initiatives into clear milestones and communicate statuses and risks promptly
- Troubleshoot and resolve difficult technical challenges encountered by the group
- Detect technical debt and risks early to prevent larger business disruptions
- Mentor engineering peers via pairing, design reviews, and code reviews
- Document and articulate technical choices clearly during team meetings and through design documents
- Coordinate with product and engineering units to ensure technical tasks align with business goals
Requirements
- Possess at least four years of professional software development background, featuring ownership of complex backend architectures
- Demonstrate practical programming proficiency in Python or Go
- Bring previous platform engineering exposure or experience constructing shared platform elements
- Show a proven history of segmenting large assignments into milestones and hitting delivery deadlines
- Have hands-on background mentoring peers through design and code assessments
- Exhibit robust fundamentals in Linux and distributed systems
- Display the ability to cooperate across different teams to match technical objectives with product goals
- Demonstrate familiarity with incorporating AI into software development workflows and creating AI-enhanced tools
Qualifications
- Familiarity with authorization and authentication mechanisms including single sign-on, OAuth, or role-based access control
- Background utilizing Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies
- Exposure to infrastructure software or network management tools such as NetBox
- History of involvement or contributions to open-source projects
