The organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Streams UI team within the United States. In this position, the professional will shape and improve user interface elements to make them more engaging and intuitive. The role involves working closely with Fleet, which serves as the central management tool for Elastic Agent inside Kibana, as well as Streams, a platform utility for managing log data processing, ingestion, parsing, and retention policies. This opportunity suits an experienced developer who enjoys solving complex challenges, driving architectural discussions, and collaborating asynchronously across time zones with a distributed group of product managers, designers, and engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design and create intuitive user interface components using TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Connect front-end features directly with back-end services to maintain a seamless user journey
- Perform usability evaluations and collect user feedback to guide ongoing product updates
- Take end-to-end ownership of complex, loosely-defined tasks from planning to technical execution
- Lead architectural and system design conversations while balancing scalability, performance, and backward compatibility
- Set and enforce coding guidelines across the development team
- Build reusable components and set up automated deployment and testing pipelines
- Review peer code thoroughly to maintain quality standards and identify potential security risks
- Collaborate across time zones using Slack, GitHub, and other asynchronous channels
- Partner directly with product managers and designers to bring design mockups into functional user interfaces
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional background working with full-stack JavaScript, specifically TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Proven history of managing non-trivial projects independently from start to finish with minimal supervision
- Strong system design capabilities applicable to large, existing codebases
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for feature creation and system debugging
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities paired with a passion for knowledge-sharing and asynchronous teamwork
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Reactflow
- Background using the Elastic stack, log pipelines, or observability tools
- Knowledge of Go, Kubernetes, or cloud-native software development
- Experience constructing large-scale interfaces that handle high volumes of data, tables, search, and filtering
- Exposure to real-time or streaming data technologies
- Previous involvement in open-source projects or developer-facing platform groups
- Background in mentoring other engineers or guiding compact project groups
