Chime is seeking a Senior Incident Operations Manager to join its Incident Response team within Platform Engineering. As a financial technology company dedicated to helping members achieve financial peace of mind, Chime relies on resilient human and technical systems. In this remote position, you will oversee live incidents from initial declaration and technical coordination through member communication, remediation, and post-incident review. This role suits an organized operations professional who can lead through influence across engineering, product, compliance, legal, and finance departments while prioritizing user impact. Alongside managing the on-call rotation and after-hours coverage, you will own continuous improvement workstreams to enhance future response procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage incidents end to end by setting severity levels, paging responders, running bridges, and coordinating mitigation decisions
- Draft clear member communications across various channels and shepherd them through compliance and legal approvals
- Drive member remediation phases by establishing workstreams, determining exit criteria, and coordinating financial adjustments
- Deliver timely status reports to leadership and provide impact summaries for regulatory notifications
- Facilitate incident post-mortems, document lessons learned, and ensure corrective actions are assigned owners and deadlines
- Proactively identify risks and systemic gaps before they manifest as customer-facing outages
- Own a response program workstream such as response metrics, runbooks, or pre-approved messaging templates
- Participate in an on-call rotation requiring occasional weekend, night, and holiday coverage
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience in incident management or a comparable operational capacity
- Demonstrated background handling live, customer-facing operational incidents
- Experience authoring customer-facing notices, collaborating with support teams, and managing user remediation
- Familiarity with incident and observability platforms like PagerDuty, incident.io, Datadog, Slack tooling, Jira, and Google Workspace
- Technical comprehension sufficient to follow engineering investigations regarding observability, deployments, and distributed systems
