Reddit is an online platform that hosts over 100,000 active communities centered around shared user interests, drawing roughly 130 million daily active visitors. The Media Experience team focuses on making video discovery and playback intuitive and engaging across the platform.
Reddit seeks a Senior iOS Engineer to drive the technical strategy for media engagement and shape user-facing features that boost video consumption. This position suits an experienced mobile developer who enjoys combining data-informed experimentation with high-performance client engineering. In this role, you will design immersive viewing interfaces, collaborate with backend and machine learning recommendation teams, and maintain application stability and rendering performance.
The position is a full-time, remote opportunity. Candidates will work closely with product, design, and data science professionals to establish engineering standards and execute product roadmaps.
Responsibilities
- Lead the iOS architecture for features that improve video discovery and consumption
- Partner with management to foster an environment of rapid prototyping and A/B testing
- Collaborate with client media infrastructure, backend, feeds, and machine learning ranking teams
- Partner with product, design, and data science teams on cross-functional execution
- Establish engineering standards for integrating media components and managing complex media lifecycles
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on iOS experience developing native mobile applications at scale using Swift
- Experience steering cross-team projects that addressed tangible business goals such as watch time or daily active users
- Familiarity with experimentation, data funnels, and quality of experience metrics
- Experience optimizing video player performance or building features using AVFoundation or VideoToolbox
Qualifications
- Familiarity with HTTP Live Streaming
- Experience integrating with recommendation and feed systems
