Job Description
Natera is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering — Case Management Platform to lead the Case Management Platform Core team. Operating globally in oncology, women's health, and organ health, Natera utilizes cell-free DNA testing to advance personalized genetic diagnostics and standard of care. In this role, the selected candidate will guide the technical backbone responsible for moving patient orders through to final results. This is a hands-on position requiring active coding, architectural direction, and production support, alongside team growth, hiring, and AI-native workflow integration. The successful candidate will bridge commerce and fulfillment domains, collaborate across business units including lab operations and product management, and maintain technical credibility.
Responsibilities
- Set and defend architectural direction while writing production code and participating in incident response
- Own the complete software development lifecycle from initial conception through operation and sunset
- Hire, develop, and mentor top engineering performers while holding regular one-on-ones and career guidance
- Drive AI-native transformation by championing AI coding tools and agent-managed operations
- Serve as the primary technical contact for product management, commerce, lab operations, and adjacent engineering groups
- Manage project delivery commitments, track risks and dependencies, and run lean outcome-oriented ceremonies
Requirements
- 8 or more years of professional software development experience building complex data or process-management applications
- 3 or more years leading engineering teams with demonstrated success hiring and retaining talent
- Recent hands-on experience writing production code, handling design reviews, and troubleshooting production issues
- Strong fluency in Java or another object-oriented programming language
- Expertise with modern cloud infrastructure, relational databases, and distributed systems
- Demonstrated adoption of AI-assisted development or agent-based workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Familiarity with AWS, including Lambda and other serverless or stateless patterns
- Prior work experience in biotechnology, healthcare, or another heavily regulated industry
