MetroSys wants a Senior Nutanix Engineer for a remote, full-time post supporting a large enterprise infrastructure relocation for one of its clients. The engineer will do hands-on building, configuration, migration and tuning of hyperconverged Nutanix environments.
Typical duties include standing up and administering Nutanix clusters running AOS and AHV, along with storage pools, network settings and virtual machines. Before moving anything, the engineer runs assessments and compatibility checks, then executes migration waves covering testing, cutover, fallback and post-move stabilization. Nutanix Move and similar utilities help with discovery and verification.
The engineer also troubleshoots virtualization, storage throughput, connectivity, replication and application uptime problems. Backup, disaster recovery and high-availability settings are built and verified, and cluster health and capacity are watched throughout the project. Runbooks are documented, and after the move the engineer tunes performance and transfers knowledge to the client's IT staff.
The listing requires at least five years of enterprise infrastructure engineering, including substantial practical Nutanix time, plus prior experience moving workloads off VMware vSphere, Hyper-V or comparable platforms. Responsibilities
- Stand up, configure and tune Nutanix HCI built on AOS and AHV
- Move virtual machines and workloads into AHV or other target platforms
- Use Nutanix Move and comparable tools for discovery, planning and checks
- Set up clusters, storage pools, networking and virtual machines
- Run pre-migration assessments, compatibility reviews and dependency mapping
- Carry out migration waves, cutovers, rollbacks and post-move stabilization
- Troubleshoot storage, network, replication and availability problems
- Build and verify backup, replication, DR and HA configurations
- Track cluster performance, capacity and health during the migration
- Keep runbooks, configuration standards and operating procedures current
- Support client IT teams with tuning and knowledge transfer after go-live
Requirements
- Five or more years in enterprise infrastructure engineering with significant Nutanix hands-on time
- Working knowledge of AOS, AHV and the Prism management tools
- Experience moving workloads off VMware vSphere, Hyper-V or similar platforms
- Practical use of Nutanix Move or similar migration products
- Grasp of virtualization design, enterprise storage, networking and HCI
- History of configuring and fixing production Nutanix clusters
- Familiarity with designs that cover backups, replicas, DR and HA
- Participation in migrations with tangled application dependencies
- Good troubleshooting, documentation and communication habits
- Able to work alone during scheduled migration and cutover windows
Qualifications
- NCP or NCAP certification
- Involvement in large VMware-to-AHV moves
- Hands-on time with Files, Objects, Flow or automation products
- Scripting with PowerShell, Python or other infrastructure automation tools
- Experience with multi-site or geographically dispersed infrastructure
- Exposure to data center consolidation or modernization efforts
