Canonical, a profitable and growing enterprise software provider known for the Ubuntu platform, is hiring a Senior Organisational Development Practitioner. This senior talent role requires a professional to coach directors and leaders, diagnose organizational leadership, and elevate management practices across the company. The position combines working within a central talent team with embedding directly inside engineering and commercial divisions.
The role suits an experienced practitioner with a strong background in hands-on coaching, organizational development, and high-level leadership engagement. Candidates will operate within a globally distributed environment across the Americas and EMEA. The company maintains a remote-first culture with very few office-based positions.
Responsibilities
- Coach individual leaders to meet high standards of management excellence
- Drive difficult conversations and translate 360 feedback into actionable commitments
- Diagnose organizational leadership structures and execute plans for improvement
- Define and implement new operational methods across a distributed workforce
- Supervise and develop field practitioners to enhance coaching craft
- Establish organizational development and coaching standards for the company
- Refine management excellence standards based on field experience
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on coaching and organizational development practice with leaders and teams
- Demonstrated track record of measurably changing leadership behavior
- Credibility to interact effectively with directors
- Ability to operate successfully inside external organizations without formal authority
- Clear philosophy of development regarding coaching and role fit decisions
- Excellent written and spoken English proficiency
- Personal motivation aligned with company mission
- Willingness to travel up to four times yearly for internal events
Qualifications
- Exceptional academic record from high school and university
- Management consulting background with comfort in ambiguity
- Experience coaching across distributed, fast-moving technical organizations
- Experience building competency or development frameworks
- Experience designing and running online and in-person workshops or training sessions
- Learning design judgment for development materials
- Talent development experience
