Job Description

Wise is hiring a full-time Senior Product Compliance Manager for AML, based in London and listed as on-site. The role sits in the Product Compliance and Risk team, which supports Wise's product development by making sure products are compliant by design. The manager works with the global AML product teams to set controls that balance customer experience with financial crime detection and scalable operations.

Responsibilities include setting the team's direction for AML control design and detection strategy, and helping interpret global regulation so that Wise's in-house AML capabilities remain strong. The role identifies improvements that raise detection quality, unlock growth and cut unnecessary friction and manual work, then drives them through to delivery with product and engineering teams. Using data to measure how well controls perform, and supporting an ongoing testing and assurance programme, are central to the role. When audits, regulators, incidents or third parties highlight gaps, the manager builds project plans and carries them out. The role also covers periodic reviews of controls against changing rules and guidance, and helps compile the yearly financial-crime risk review covering typologies and regions.

The posting asks for at least seven years in AML or financial crime, with a focus on designing and improving AML controls such as transaction monitoring, risk detection and alert decisioning. Experience building controls alongside product and engineering teams in an internally built product setting is required, along with automation experience that cuts manual effort without weakening detection. Strong data analytics, project coordination and a clear way of explaining trade-offs between friction, cost and risk are expected. A CAMS or ICA credential, or an equivalent one, is a plus, and candidates should be willing to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set PC&R direction for AML control design and detection strategy
  • Partner with AML product teams on controls and on interpreting global regulation
  • Drive improvements to detection quality, growth and operational efficiency
  • Use data to measure control effectiveness and support ongoing testing
  • Plan and deliver control improvements arising from audits, regulators, incidents or third parties
  • Review controls periodically against regulatory change
  • Help with the yearly FinCrime risk assessment

Requirements

  • At least seven years in AML or financial crime, focused on implementing and improving controls
  • Experience working with product and engineering teams on in-house financial crime controls
  • Experience automating controls while maintaining detection quality
  • Strong data analytics and the ability to convert findings into concrete control updates
  • Clear communication and project coordination
  • Ability to anticipate obstacles and challenge teams constructively
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Qualifications

  • CAMS or ICA, or a comparable certification (desirable)
