Job Description

Zopa is looking for a Senior Product Manager to run the Originations product for its credit cards in London. Originations spans the journey from a prospect's first encounter with Zopa, through application and credit decisioning, to account set-up. The goal is profitable growth in new accounts, along with stronger conversion and a smoother experience on the way.

The manager sets the roadmap and leads a squad of engineers. Credit makes the calls on strategy, who to lend to and pricing; this role converts those calls into product features for checks on eligibility and affordability, decision logic, pricing and fraud controls, collaborating with shared decisioning, design, analytics and operations teams. Priorities include simpler application flows, fewer avoidable referrals and experiments on web and in-app journeys. The role also explores partnership and data options, such as open banking and third-party offers, and balances customer results, conversion, unit economics, risk, quality and speed when choosing what to do. Building practical AI and automation habits into the team is expected. The post is hybrid, with two to three days a week in the London office.

Suitable candidates have delivered measurable commercial and customer results in a complicated digital product, can turn murky problems into a prioritised plan with clear success measures, and are willing to change course when the evidence says so.

Responsibilities

  • Set direction and a roadmap for credit card originations, from first contact through to onboarding.
  • Use customer, commercial and risk signals to find the largest chances for profitable new-account growth.
  • Team up with Credit and Fraud to build and refine eligibility, affordability, decisioning, pricing and fraud capabilities.
  • Lead a squad of engineers and coordinate with decisioning, design, analytics and operations colleagues.
  • Raise conversion by streamlining journeys, cutting needless referrals and testing web and app changes.
  • Shape partnership and data options, including open banking and third-party offers.
  • Weigh customer outcomes, conversion, economics, risk, quality and speed in every decision.
  • Improve how the team works, including sensible use of AI and automation.

Requirements

  • Owned measurable commercial and customer outcomes in a complicated digital product area.
  • Able to turn unclear problems into a prioritised roadmap with defined success measures.
  • Solid commercial judgement across growth, conversion, unit economics, customer outcomes and risk.
  • Accountable for goals and KPIs, and willing to change course when the evidence points that way.
  • Builds strong product and engineering relationships and runs work end to end.
  • Uses data to form hypotheses and to explain both what was done and what was deliberately left out.
  • Influences senior and cross-functional peers without relying on rank.

Qualifications

  • Consumer fintech or fast-moving, customer-facing scale-up experience.
  • Hands-on use of SQL, scripting and BI tools.
  • Experience coaching product managers or analysts.
  • Experience with third-party data, open banking or strategic partner propositions.

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Can spend as many as 120 days a year working from overseas, provided they hold the right to work in that country.
