Job Description
This Senior Product Manager role at Salla covers the catalogue, the product-data foundation beneath the storefront, site search, product suggestions, landing pages and every sales channel a seller uses. Strong catalogue data lifts every surface built on it. Weak or inaccurate data cannot be rescued by anything placed above it.
The listing highlights two difficulties. First, Salla does not write the catalogue itself. Merchants do, and frequently the actual entry is done by a freelancer, a member of operations staff or an outside agency. The product therefore has to change how people who do not work for Salla create data, and those people mostly want to finish quickly and move on. Second, categories differ in what a product record needs. A clothing seller, a pharmacy, a grocer and a jeweller each need something different, and building each category separately will not scale.
The intended design is one catalogue engine, built once, where each category's product-record needs are set through configuration rather than code. Adding a category should be a settings change rather than a development project. The manager also covers product data entry, structure and meaning, AI-based enrichment, and how the data performs in search, storefronts, recommendations and external marketplace feeds.
The manager sets the catalogue strategy by quarter, owns the roadmap for creating and improving product data, and decides how far AI generates content, how far it only suggests content for approval, and where it stays out. The role leads two to three product managers, and the listing expects a career of six-plus years in product roles. Arabic and English both need to be professional-grade, and the position is on-site, with openness to relocating to Saudi Arabia. No salary is stated.
Responsibilities
- Own the catalogue strategy from end to end, sequenced into quarters and accountable for the numbers it promises
- Own the roadmap for creating and improving product data, ranked by how well the data works downstream
- Design for the people who enter the data, including those who do not run the store, and make the right path the quickest one
- Turn new categories into configuration changes, and show how much less effort the second category takes than the first
- Decide what AI generates outright, what it proposes for approval and what it never touches, under a stated confidence policy
- Define what good catalogue quality means and track it against the storefronts and tools that rely on it
- Decide how much structure to require and where merchants keep their freedom
- Lead two to three product managers, coach their thinking and raise the quality bar for what the group ships
Requirements
- Product-manager experience spanning six-plus years, ideally on a self-service platform where sellers created their own records
- A measurable result on product data, such as completeness, accuracy, time to publish, tool adoption or downstream performance
- Evidence of changing what users enter at the moment they enter it, instead of cleaning it up later
- Platform judgement: experience building something once and serving many cases through configuration
- Experience putting AI into production for structured data, such as extraction, classification, generation or matching, with confidence thresholds
- Working knowledge of product data structure, including taxonomies, attributes, variants, identifiers, deduplication and external channel rules
- Professional-grade fluency in Arabic and English
Qualifications
- Experience coaching product managers, formally or informally
- Regional merchant experience is valued above theoretical knowledge
- Open to moving to Saudi Arabia and working from the office
