GitLab is seeking a remote Senior Product Manager for Switchboard to guide the development and strategy of its Dedicated deployment control plane. The platform enables internal engineering teams to execute maintenance and upgrades for customer instances while giving clients a centralized console to monitor environment health, handle configuration settings, and review critical notifications. This position requires shaping the product vision by balancing internal operational requirements with intuitive user interfaces for customers.
The role operates within a fast-growing deployment sector at the company, providing autonomy to identify core challenges and direct the product roadmap with backing from engineering partners and management. Candidates will need strong technical comprehension regarding cloud infrastructure and operational workflows, user experience expertise to simplify complex technical systems, and clear communication abilities for direct customer interactions. Responsibilities
- Formulate the product vision and roadmap for Switchboard by connecting customer needs with internal operational challenges
- Collaborate with engineering and site reliability engineering teams to enhance tools for operating Dedicated instances, including upgrades and maintenance routines
- Enhance the customer-facing console to allow users to handle infrastructure settings, private networking, authentication, and environment health tracking
- Engage directly with clients to gather requirements, communicate product decisions, and use feedback to refine the roadmap
- Bring a strong user experience perspective to decision-making and build workflows directly alongside engineering when a design partner is absent
- Investigate opportunities to improve tooling for client migrations from self-managed deployments, incident management, and potential expansion to support GitLab.com architecture
Requirements
- Experience owning a product vision and roadmap while partnering with engineering teams to deliver user enhancements
- Technical understanding to evaluate infrastructure and operational trade-offs and turn them into clear product choices
- Strong focus on user experience with a history of simplifying complex technical workflows
- Clear communication skills and willingness to work directly with customers
- Ability to work independently, navigate an evolving problem space, and balance customer, operational, and business priorities
Qualifications
