Job Description
Motive has an opening for a remote Senior Security Engineer focused on hardware security. The position belongs to the Product Security team and acts as the first point of security contact for engineering and hardware groups. The core activities are design reviews, threat modeling, and creating reusable secure-by-default libraries, services and components so hardware teams can ship securely.
The engineer builds out the hardware and embedded security process for all Motive devices, covering boot sequencing, firmware, FOTA packaging and manufacturing. Hardware risks are reviewed at every point in the lifecycle, from design through production, deployment, updates and decommissioning. Architecture reviews, threat models and security testing for device systems fall to the engineer, who also writes the requirements covering hardware platforms, embedded software, debug access and lifecycle controls for connected products. The role is meant to be strategic: security is scaled through programs and reusable engineering rather than one review at a time.
Applicants should bring at least five years of hardware security experience, including creating security-by-design approaches for new devices, and at least five years of working with product teams on security requirements. Five years or more of coding in Python and C or C++ is expected. Familiarity with root of trust designs, secure boot, remote attestation, key handling, device identity and provisioning is essential. Background in cloud, runtime, supply chain and application security is also listed. The posted Canadian compensation range is $146,000 to $184,000 CAD.
