Fleetio is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team on a full-time, remote basis within the United States. Fleetio develops modern software used globally for fleet operations management and is a founding member of the Rails Foundation. In March 2025, the company secured $450 million in Series D funding. This role focuses on maintaining, running, and boosting the performance of the company's Ruby on Rails infrastructure and stack.
The position suits infrastructure and site reliability professionals who enjoy optimization, scaling applications, and incorporating artificial intelligence into everyday engineering tasks. Team members utilize AI agents and automated workflows to handle routine maintenance, reduce operational toil, and speed up incident remediation. Responsibilities
- Identify, triage, and resolve application performance issues proactively
- Monitor performance metrics across databases, Ruby, and Rails systems to enhance observability, including SLOs and SLIs
- Develop and maintain automations, AI agents, and skills to lower operational toil during routine maintenance, incident response, and triage
- Use AI-assisted tooling to speed up code reviews, root-cause investigations, and performance analysis
- Collaborate with peers to locate and fix performance bottlenecks
- Lead database capacity planning and upgrade initiatives
- Manage database components related to disaster recovery planning and execution
- Oversee pre-production databases and backup systems
- Write and maintain infrastructure and operations documentation, such as runbooks for engineers and AI agents
- Take part in the on-call rotation
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Ruby and Rails
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with AWS
- Experience utilizing Kubernetes
- Familiarity with benchmarking and profiling source code
- Ability to perform effective code reviews and spot performance problems before production
- Experience using Datadog or other APM tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Experience building AI agents, LLM-powered automations, or integrations for engineering or operations workflows
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
- Strong understanding of cloud network fundamentals including CDNs, VPCs, load balancers, routing, and firewalls
- Experience working with distributed event and data stores such as Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Memcached, and TimescaleDB
