Job Description

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components by identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in indexing layouts, serialization formats, and resource utilization
• Drive cross-organizational initiatives to build industry-leading observability solutions alongside a globally distributed team focused on logs and metrics capabilities
• Establish best practices for clean coding standards to untangle complexity and bring architectural clarity across the platform
• Act as a subject matter expert and technical advisor to mentor the broader engineering organization
• Triage, review, and resolve issues and pull requests in collaboration with a global open-source community
• Write idiomatic modern Java code for Elasticsearch components

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and adapt to changing business priorities autonomously
• Proven experience leveraging AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code
• Background in implementing novel techniques for efficiently indexing, storing, and querying time-series or log data
• Working familiarity with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus
• Strong core Java programming skills with a deep understanding of concurrency primitives and data structure optimization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills suited for a distributed, respectful team environment

Qualifications

• Prior hands-on experience building applications with Elasticsearch
• Familiarity with open source projects, source control workflows, and continuous integration
• Past professional background working on database engines, search engines, operating systems, or cloud services
