Job Description
Coinbase is hiring a remote Senior Software Engineer, Backend/Fullstack for its Coinbase Advisor team in the Consumer and Business group. Coinbase Advisor is described as an agentic trading product, licensed as an RIA, that lives in the Coinbase app and discusses a user's portfolio, offers personalized advice and carries out trades for the user. The role is mainly backend work on a full-stack team.
The engineer would own the backend services for Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, from first design to launch and day-to-day running. The work includes connecting to Coinbase trading APIs so that agent recommendations and user-set strategies become accurate, traceable trades. The engineer would also build the agent harness, covering tool use, orchestration, durable state and recovery from partly finished actions.
Other duties include improving reliability, response time, observability and execution safety, such as retry behavior and protection against repeated actions. The engineer would shape agent behavior through prompt design, evaluations and conversation review, working with the firm's registered investment adviser on revisions to guidance and with frontend, product, design, trading infrastructure and compliance colleagues.
Candidates should bring five or more years of professional software engineering, strong backend expertise and a history of running production services. Go is required, or the candidate must be able to pick it up quickly. Experience building production language-model or agent systems with tool use and evaluation is expected.

- Own backend services for Coinbase Advisor and Strategies from design through operation

- Coordinate with frontend, product, design, trading infrastructure and compliance teams
Requirements
- Five or more years of professional software engineering
- Strong backend expertise and a record of running production services
- Comfort with API architecture, distributed platforms, data modeling, testing and debugging live incidents
- Proficiency in Go, or the ability to learn it quickly
- Experience with production language-model or agent systems that use tool use, orchestration or evaluation
- Ability to take unclear projects to production with sound judgment
