Job Description
Affirm provides consumers with installment payment options. This remote Senior Software Engineer post sits on the Backend team inside Marketing and Privacy Engineering, a group that builds consumer web pages and measurement infrastructure for growth. Its scope includes logged-out experiences, experiment tooling, client-side tagging, marketing-tech integrations, and attribution and conversion analytics.
The engineer builds the data and measurement backbone that links paid media, search and other acquisition channels to signups, purchases and gross merchandise volume. Work spans data engineering and marketing technology: pipelines, identity and event systems, attribution logic and connections across marketing and data tools. Consent handling, tag governance, identifier use and personal-data limits are built into the design from the outset, through collaboration with peers across Analytics, Data Engineering, Marketing, Product and Engineering.
Day-to-day duties include meeting quarterly team targets, guiding engineers through open-ended challenges, writing technical plans for major features, defining code review and design expectations, watching team metrics, taking part in on-call rotations, and developing colleagues through mentoring.
Candidates need four or more years creating and launching large-scale backend services in Python or Kotlin, plus experience with highly available distributed systems on AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes. Hands-on marketing measurement work with Google Tag Manager, GA4, conversion APIs, customer data platforms and consent tools is expected, as are production pipelines and models built on Snowflake, dbt and Airflow.
Eligible residents must live in one of the nine Canadian provinces named in the posting, which include Ontario and British Columbia. The base range is CAD 153,000 to 213,000 per year, and new hires usually begin near the lower end. Benefits include employer-paid medical premiums for staff and dependents, monthly stipends for tech, health and wellness, flexible time off, and an employee stock purchase plan.
