This remote, full-time position as a Senior Software Engineer falls within the consumer engineering organization, which spans multiple focus areas such as core feeds, community presence, growth, monetization, and platform security.
This role is well-suited for a backend practitioner who enjoys bridging distributed systems with direct user experiences. Engineers in this division collaborate alongside product managers, designers, data scientists, machine learning specialists, and client developers to build scalable features. Responsibilities cover the entire software lifecycle, from designing system architectures and writing technical specifications to conducting A/B experiments and ensuring high service availability. Candidates should bring substantial back-end experience, an aptitude for data-driven iteration, and a user-focused mindset to shape how people interact across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including product management, design, data science, and client engineers to design reliable technical solutions
- Manage the complete software development lifecycle from technical design documents and API contracts through rollout and observability
- Design, construct, and assess A/B experiments utilizing analytics platforms to evaluate user behavior and retention
- Develop and maintain scalable APIs using GraphQL, REST, or gRPC along with distributed backend services
- Set engineering standards, refine developer workflows, and mentor colleagues while utilizing modern tools
Requirements
- Possess five or more years of hands-on backend development experience creating and operating large-scale distributed serving systems in high-concurrency environments
- Demonstrate proficiency in modern backend programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C++
- Show expertise in building and maintaining scalable APIs using GraphQL, REST, or gRPC
- Bring practical familiarity with high-throughput caching layers and distributed datastores including Redis, Cassandra, or PostgreSQL
