This group maintains Slate, which is Faire's design system, alongside the tools utilized for prototyping and design decisions.
As a Senior Software Engineer focusing on Design Systems and Frontend, you will develop and refine reusable web components, contribute to a visual brand overhaul, and construct AI-driven tools to accelerate design workflows. Operating within a lean cross-functional team, you will collaborate daily with designers and engineers to encourage component adoption and shape frontend architecture. This position requires a balance of engineering skill and design intuition.
Ideal candidates possess professional frontend development experience, a strong grasp of accessibility standards, and a history of leading technical projects. Responsibilities
- Design and construct reusable, high-quality components scaling across web surfaces
- Promote performance and accessibility best practices throughout shared components
- Set up and manage testing strategies and quality gates for the design system
- Collaborate with internal engineers to boost adoption and adapt the system based on actual use
- Contribute to the technical direction of frontend architecture
- Develop AI tools that expedite design system application and enable agent-driven self healing
- Assist the design team with the visual brand redesign of faire.com
- Mentor fellow engineers, conduct code and design reviews, and elevate frontend standards
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional frontend engineering experience
- Extensive expertise in TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS
- Practical background in building or maintaining shared UI platforms, component libraries, or design systems
- Strong comprehension of WCAG accessibility standards
- Demonstrated capability to guide technical projects from conception to completion and influence direction beyond the immediate team
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical industry experience
- Background at a mature tech company managing a large-scale, multi-team design system
- Experience demonstrating rapid iteration and learning from live usage
- Background blending engineering and design disciplines
- Familiarity with agent-driven or AI-assisted tooling
