Affirm is recruiting a Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack for its Marketplace and App Experience area. The role is remote. This area anchors Affirm's consumer strategy and spans the customer experience on mobile and web, starting from the home area of the app or website and leading into the product offers customers can explore.
The engineer works on front-facing projects that cut across teams. That means collaborating with engineers across mobile and web technologies and partnering with every product experience team. Work is organized by breaking projects into tasks, shipping them in phases, and coordinating with product management, design and analytics on ideas and tradeoffs.
Operational duties include creating and tracking metrics, escalating when required, and supporting on-call and keep-the-lights-on work. The engineer also contributes to team culture through interviews and growth programs.
Applicants need software engineering experience of at least 1.5 years, with experience shipping web applications built with React or Vue and mobile apps built with React Native or other native or cross-platform tools. Experience designing and launching APIs at scale in Kotlin or Python is also required. The listed base pay is $195,000 to $255,000 in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and $173,000 to $233,000 in other U.S. states.
Responsibilities
- Lead front-facing cross-team projects across mobile and web
- Divide projects into individual tasks and deliver them in phases
- Work with product management, design and analytics on ideas, constraints and tradeoffs
- Set up and track metrics, escalate issues and support on-call efforts
- Partner with every product experience team to deliver value for customers
- Take part in interviews and other team development activities
Requirements
- At least 1.5 years working as a software engineer
- Experience shipping web applications with React or Vue
- Experience shipping mobile apps with native or cross-platform tools such as React Native
- Experience creating and launching APIs at scale in Kotlin or Python
- Ability to turn a simple problem into clear, well-tested and extensible code spanning several components
- Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging others' code and giving code review feedback
- Strong verbal and written communication for a global engineering team
- Hands-on experience of equal value or a degree in a relevant discipline
