Job Description
Lattice's Senior Software Engineer role on the Infrastructure Platform team is remote and open only to residents of British Columbia or Ontario, Canada. The group builds the cloud services and internal systems that power Lattice's products, aiming to ease the work of product engineers who ship, run and debug their own services.
The engineer works with AWS and Kubernetes, and also with distributed systems, observability tools, release tooling and the internal platforms developers use. Responsibilities include planning and running AWS-based cloud infrastructure, creating reusable platform capabilities, and reviewing how services interact to uncover risks, bottlenecks and gaps. The role also involves strengthening the uptime, speed and upkeep of production systems, and adding instrumentation to and debugging services, including TypeScript services.
This is a senior, leadership-oriented position. The engineer leads technical initiatives from the first framing of a problem through rollout and uptake, coaches other engineers in designing dependable and expandable systems, and communicates tradeoffs, risks and progress to stakeholders. Taking part in on-call duty and incident response is part of the job.

Responsibilities
- Plan, create and run cloud infrastructure on AWS and the services that sit on top of it
- Build reusable internal platform tools that help engineers ship, run and manage services
- Collaborate with product engineers to notice repeated demands and convert them into scalable platform options
- Review how systems and services interact to find risks, bottlenecks and gaps
- Strengthen uptime, speed and upkeep of production systems
- Establish and champion platform practices, including SLOs, monitoring, incident response and operational readiness
- Add instrumentation, debug and enhance services across the stack, including TypeScript ones
- Own larger technical projects from the first framing of the problem to rollout and uptake
- Explain tradeoffs, risks and progress clearly to engineering stakeholders
- Coach other engineers in designing dependable and expandable systems
- Take part in on-call rotations and incident response
Requirements
- Experience of five years or more in software or infrastructure engineering
- Production-level AWS experience
- Know-how with cloud platforms, multi-node architectures and designing systems end to end
- Track record creating in-house platforms, developer tools or shared services
- Hands-on work with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code
- Strong programming ability and a knack for debugging production systems
- Familiar with continuous integration and delivery pipelines and automated releases
- Experience with observability, including metrics, logs, traces, alerts and SLOs
- Able to think through complex systems and grasp how their parts affect each other
- Experience leading technical work that involves several stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative style
- Must live in one of the two provinces, British Columbia or Ontario, since hiring is restricted to residents there
