The company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Load and Fault Environments group, which sits inside the Developer Infrastructure division. In this position, the contributor will design, construct, and manage testing frameworks and fault simulation systems to help engineering teams validate service resilience prior to production. This individual contributor position is suited for a professional with a strong background in distributed systems who wants to improve developer productivity and system reliability at scale.
The role operates on-site out of the Menlo Park, California office, with an in-person attendance requirement of at least three days per week. The position involves collaborating across product and infrastructure groups to establish steady-state hypotheses, implement safety controls, and integrate testing capabilities into deployment workflows. Candidates will work with production-grade codebases to scale infrastructure and ensure high standards of system dependability.
Responsibilities
- Design and build load testing and fault injection infrastructure for engineering teams
- Own platform components through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration
- Collaborate with product and infrastructure engineers to drive adoption of shared resilience tooling
- Define steady-state hypotheses, blast radius controls, and fault injection primitives for chaos experiments
- Write clean code and participate in technical design discussions
Requirements
- At least five years of software engineering experience
- Strong coding skills in languages such as Python or Go
- Background in designing or contributing to load testing, fault injection, chaos engineering, or developer productivity infrastructure
- Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and failure propagation
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container-based infrastructure
