UpGuard is expanding its Product Engineering team and hiring a Senior Software Engineer to manage a distinct feature area from technical design through to production deployment. Operating within a fully remote environment, UpGuard builds a Cyber Risk Posture Management platform that integrates security ratings, threat intelligence, and agentic artificial intelligence to process billions of risk signals daily.
In this position, you will serve as a technical reference point for your product manager, steer architectural choices within your squad, guide feature feasibility and scope, and mentor surrounding engineers. You will work extensively with React and TypeScript on the frontend, Go services backed by Postgres, and Kubernetes infrastructure running on Google Cloud Platform. The engineering workflow relies heavily on agentic coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor from day one, and you will contribute ideas toward automating testing, code review, and deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities
- Manage a designated feature area end-to-end from initial product design conversations to production and subsequent follow-ups
- Lead technical design sessions and guide architectural decisions within your assigned area
- Collaborate with product and design teams to determine feature feasibility, cost, and prioritization
- Mentor fellow engineers to elevate code quality and decision-making standards
- Enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of owned systems
- Develop deep expertise in the cybersecurity domain to inform product development
- Contribute ideas on automating development workflows, including testing, code review, and deployment
Requirements
- Approximately five or more years of relevant engineering experience at product-driven, tech-centric organizations
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React
- Productivity in a backend language, with Go utilized by the company
- Solid relational database skills, specifically using Postgres
- Experience using AI coding tools as a default workflow along with the judgment to review and own their outputs
- Ability to make pragmatic trade-offs balancing technical quality and current business needs
- Track record of steering technical design for a feature area through to production
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving team code quality and decisions
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in the cybersecurity industry
- Experience running services on Kubernetes, ideally on Google Cloud Platform
- Background in building complex applications or systems from scratch alongside a cross-functional team
- Demonstrated ownership of a service in production, covering on-call duties, observability, and prioritization judgment
