UpGuard is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Product Engineering team on a full-time, remote basis. Operating within a Series C funded cybersecurity company that processes billions of daily risk signals, the organization builds a Cyber Risk Posture Management platform combining threat intelligence, security ratings, and agentic AI. This remote position permits work from anywhere in Australia, with optional offices located in Sydney and Hobart.
The incoming engineer will manage user-facing capabilities across the React and TypeScript front end, alongside Go-based services that handle internet-scale security data. Individuals will collaborate within a Product Engineering squad alongside a product manager, designer, and technical lead, utilizing AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor from day one. New team members begin shipping real work within their initial weeks with the guidance of a senior engineer mentor, taking on growing scope over time. Candidates do not need prior cybersecurity experience, though curiosity about the domain is essential.
Responsibilities
- Build and deliver features for users utilizing the React front end and Go services
- Manage well-scoped tasks independently from end to end with support from senior engineers
- Contribute to platform performance and reliability during periods of growth
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions concerning platform development
- Explore the cybersecurity domain and progress toward senior responsibilities
Requirements
- Approximately 2 or more years of relevant engineering experience
- Proficiency in TypeScript and React
- Productivity in a backend programming language, specifically Go
- Competency with relational databases, specifically Postgres
- Familiarity with AI coding tools as a default workflow with the judgment to evaluate their outputs
- Pragmatic approach balancing technical standards with business requirements
Qualifications
- Background or prior experience in cybersecurity
- Experience operating services on Kubernetes, ideally on Google Cloud Platform
