This position offers exposure to every component of the vehicle and how it operates. The role requires creative problem-solving to interpret and apply regulations across multiple jurisdictions for a novel vehicle architecture. The successful candidate will act as the resident subject matter expert concerning passive safety rules and will collaborate with various internal and external groups to secure vehicle compliance.

The position involves determining applicable statutes, managing requirement frameworks, partnering with legal professionals, and overseeing testing procedures. Responsibilities

  • Identify regulations applicable to purpose-built autonomous vehicles across US, European, and international jurisdictions
  • Manage requirements using a formal requirements management tool
  • Lead compliance assessment and standard interpretations to support engineering design and validation
  • Partner with the legal department to record interpretations
  • Coordinate with test engineers, technical services, and external laboratories to confirm testing procedures and execute compliance tests
  • Participate in on-site certification tests requiring occasional travel
  • Prepare compliance documentation, including compliance reports and information documents
  • Track future regulatory changes and contribute input for advocacy efforts

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in vehicle homologation
  • Deep familiarity with US and European regulations, with a strong focus on passive safety
  • Ability to adapt conventional rules to novel vehicle designs through creative problem-solving
  • Strong analytical abilities for efficient problem solving
  • Comprehension of vehicle system design and operation
