This position suits an experienced technical leader prepared to establish architectural direction for distributed data systems while moving away from heavy managed-service reliance toward custom platform infrastructure.
The person in this role will guide data architecture across streaming, ingestion, transformation, warehousing, and serving layers. Responsibilities include enabling machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities at scale, driving infrastructure-level cost optimization, and pushing data availability toward near-real-time speeds for use cases like fraud prevention and financial analytics. The job requires aligning senior leadership and cross-functional partners across product, security, compliance, and privacy on technical roadmaps while mentoring senior engineering staff.
Candidates must bring extensive professional experience designing large-scale distributed data systems, managing infrastructure lifecycles, and supporting AI or machine learning workloads. The annual base salary ranges from $253,895 to $298,700 USD, with total compensation potentially including bonuses, equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans. Responsibilities
- Define technical strategy and architecture across data ingestion, warehousing, transformation, streaming, and serving systems
- Drive engineering-led cost reduction initiatives at the infrastructure tier
- Design data infrastructure to support ML training, feature stores, real-time inference, and multi-agent AI architectures
- Advance data availability to near-real-time to support analytics, financial reporting, and fraud detection
- Secure alignment from senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on technical priorities
- Act as the primary technical voice for Data Platform in OKR planning, architecture reviews, and long-term strategy
Requirements
- Over 12 years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed data infrastructure
- Track record of owning end-to-end technical strategy and architecture across multiple teams
- Experience transitioning organizations from managed-service dependency to platform-grade infrastructure
- Demonstrated background in designing systems supporting ML training pipelines, feature stores, real-time inference, or AI agent workloads
