Job Description

This is a full-time, on-site role on the Product Platform team, which builds the shared SaaS base that every Druva product relies on. That base handles tenant provisioning, identity and access control with role-based permissions, job scheduling spread across nodes, usage metering and observability. A fault here can reach the whole product line, so quality work is treated as serious software engineering.

The Senior Software Engineer (QA / SDET) leads quality efforts across distributed microservices, heavily used APIs and asynchronous event streams. Work includes designing test strategies, creating Python or Go frameworks for automation, and writing functional suites that cover scale and chaos scenarios, and reviewing architecture proposals and pull requests early so that testability is built in from the outset.

A central goal is wiring automated regression, API and integration checks into CI/CD pipelines so developers receive quick, reliable signals. The engineer also runs concurrency and stress tests to expose bottlenecks before release, designs chaos experiments that simulate node failures, network latency and degraded services, and converts production incidents into permanent automated tests.

Quality is tracked through defect escape rate, automation coverage above 90 percent, and the share of flaky tests. The engineer coaches newer QA staff and developers on framework design and sound testing habits. Five or more years of quality engineering work, mostly on server-side systems that are distributed and multi-tenant SaaS, is expected, along with experience building frameworks from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Build and upkeep test frameworks in Python or Go that cover microservices, REST and gRPC APIs, and event pipelines
  • Define end-to-end test strategies for multi-tenant control plane features, IAM, job orchestration and metering
  • Review architecture RFCs and pull requests to set testability needs and edge cases early
  • Run concurrency, stress and chaos experiments before production releases
  • Add regression and integration suites to CI/CD with fast feedback gates
  • Convert production incidents into permanent automated regression tests
  • Monitor defect escape rate, automation coverage and flaky test ratios
  • Coach newer QA staff and developers on testing practice

Requirements

  • Five or more years of quality engineering or SDET work, centered on backend distributed systems
  • Strong Python or Go skills, including data structures, OOP and test design patterns
  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, PyTest or Testify
  • Advanced skill in RESTful and gRPC interface testing, covering contract validation and schema backward compatibility
  • Hands-on work with AWS services and with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong SQL skills for data validation and synthetic test data
  • Experience placing automated suites in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Jenkins), with runs under fifteen minutes and a strict stance on flakiness

Qualifications

  • Chaos engineering experience with tools such as Chaos Mesh, AWS FIS or LitmusChaos
  • Background in data protection, backup and recovery, storage, virtualization or cyber resilience
  • Enterprise SaaS security testing knowledge, including OWASP Top 10, authentication flows, mTLS and RBAC
  • Experience testing event-driven systems with Apache Kafka or AWS SQS and SNS
  • Experience testing generative AI and LLM workflows
  • Infrastructure as code using Terraform for temporary test environments
  • B.Tech, B.E., M.E. or M.Tech in Computer Science, IT or equivalent hands-on experience
