Zoox is designing custom, purpose-built autonomous robotaxis from the ground up to transform urban mobility. The Advanced Hardware Engineering division creates the physical intelligence, sensors, and electronics that enable vehicle autonomy. The organization is currently seeking a Senior or Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the next-generation Primary Compute Unit from an early, clean-sheet design phase through to final production. In this position, corporate strategy is translated into structured product roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables.

This role suits an experienced professional who can maintain a broad strategic viewpoint while managing granular technical and schedule details. Responsibilities include guiding hardware development, validation, integration, and cross-functional alignment. The individual will work closely with engineering, finance, procurement, supplier quality, and manufacturing departments to ensure successful execution. Key duties involve managing supplier activities with contract manufacturers, coordinating issue root-cause analysis, and delivering concise updates to key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Steer the Primary Compute Unit program through architecture alignment, hardware creation, validation, integration, and company-wide communication
  • Translate high-level corporate strategies and milestones into detailed schedules, product roadmaps, and deliverables with department leaders
  • Establish and maintain program assets and tracking tools like JIRA to ensure team accountability
  • Collaborate with finance to define and monitor resource needs against the budget
  • Direct technical supplier operations including build planning, execution, and end-of-line testing setup
  • Coordinate with procurement and supplier quality teams to foster strong vendor partnerships
  • Partner with in-house manufacturing experts to guarantee timely delivery of parts to specification for final assembly
  • Manage fleet issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and cross-functional communication
  • Deliver written and presentation updates regarding program status, risks, and milestones to key stakeholders
  • Facilitate discussions and build decision-making options matrices across multidisciplinary teams

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of overall professional experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working specifically in program management
  • Extensive background in hardware development and hardware-software integration
  • Substantial experience partnering with contract manufacturers or joint development manufacturers from concept to production
  • Proficiency in project management applications such as JIRA and Smartsheets
  • Demonstrated track record of handling complex, multidisciplinary projects
  • Ability to navigate rapid design cycles while remaining flexible during uncertainty
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities with a self-motivated approach

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in an engineering field or equivalent practical experience
  • Prior work experience within the automotive industry
  • Background in developing compute systems
