Zoox is seeking a Senior or Staff Technical Program Manager for the Robot Platform team to direct the strategic planning and execution of integrated product milestones for its vehicle platforms. Zoox is building an entirely custom, fully autonomous vehicle fleet along with the supporting ecosystem to deliver urban mobility-as-a-service. This position is suited for an experienced program management leader who can bridge the gap between high-level corporate goals and detailed technical execution.
In this hybrid role, the professional will collaborate with diverse departments including firmware, hardware, software, manufacturing, safety, and systems integration. The chosen candidate will develop comprehensive technical roadmaps, establish performance metrics, and maintain clear communication channels with key stakeholders regarding risks, issues, and achievements. Responsibilities include ensuring that program timelines align directly with broader business objectives while keeping multidisciplinary workstreams focused and motivated. The ideal individual brings a strong technical grasp of vehicle platforms, software lifecycles, test operations, and safety clearance workflows. Candidates must be comfortable navigating ambiguous situations, guiding teams toward successful outcomes, and utilizing project management tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, risk matrices, and Gantt charts effectively.
Responsibilities
- Translate high-level corporate strategies and milestones into detailed technical roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables
- Influence cross-functional decisions across engineering, manufacturing, product, operations, and strategy
- Establish standard reporting methods to communicate program status, risks, issues, and accomplishments to stakeholders
- Define and develop new KPIs and performance metrics to measure progress toward goals
- Align program goals with business objectives and sustain momentum among cross-functional TPMs and workstreams
- Maintain a technical understanding of vehicle platforms, the software lifecycle, safety clearance processes, and test operations
Requirements
- 7 plus years of experience in program management, engineering, or management consulting focusing on product launches
- Demonstrated success in driving complex software and hardware integration processes, optimizations, and end-to-end cross-functional programs
- Ability to lead through ambiguity and enable teams to perform in such environments
- Proficiency in project management tools including Gantt charts, risk matrices, Smartsheet, and Jira
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills with the ability to visualize KPIs and program risks
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- Project Management Professional certification or equivalent
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, test platforms, simulation, and automotive or aerospace processes
- Experience scaling strategy, processes, plans, procedures, reporting, and handling escalations
