Zoox is building an autonomous ride-sharing experience designed for urban environments, developing a purpose-built fleet at the intersection of machine learning, robotics, and design. The organization is seeking a Senior Vehicle Attributes Engineer to join the Vehicle Integration team on an on-site basis.
This position suits an experienced engineering professional capable of working alongside specialists in controls, robotics, and vehicle design. The person in this role will serve as a central technical link, managing requirements, leading cross-functional teams, and guiding critical decisions during high-stakes program reviews.
Responsibilities include establishing vehicle performance targets, collaborating with attribute leads, and balancing cost, timing, mass, safety, and performance constraints. The successful candidate will drive root cause analyses, communicate trade-offs to leadership, and develop test methodologies for vehicle-level validation.
Candidates must hold an engineering degree and possess extensive professional background in integration or attribute development. Preference is given to individuals with technical program management skills or a background working with electric or autonomous vehicles. Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional vehicle attribute teams covering areas such as vehicle dynamics, NVH, thermal, energy, safety, and ergonomics to meet program milestones
- Establish vehicle performance standards for next-generation autonomous platforms
- Collaborate with attribute leads to set development plans and align execution priorities across engineering disciplines
- Balance performance, mass, cost, timing, and safety to achieve optimal vehicle integration
- Deliver performance goals, identify gaps, and lead data-based root cause analyses and resolution strategies
- Compile and deliver attribute status reports for program reviews and leadership gates
- Drive initiatives to define and create test assets and methodologies for validating vehicle-level requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering
- At least ten or more years of experience in vehicle attribute development or integration
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems, cross-functional integration, and validation
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, guide decisions, and achieve results in a fast-moving setting
- Background in leading and directing a vehicle development program
- Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, documentation, Smartsheet, Jira, and Google Workspace
