Spotify is hiring a Senior Web Engineer within its Subscriptions Mission to develop the platforms and tools that drive its global subscription business. Working inside the Monaco squad in London or across the EMEA region on a remote basis, the chosen candidate will build internal solutions that allow teams to configure, manage, and launch Premium offers, prepaid items, price adjustments, and marketing campaigns safely and at scale.
This position involves designing modern web applications, building gRPC and GraphQL APIs, and shaping PostgreSQL database schemas to support critical financial operations and SOX-compliant approval workflows. Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end features for modern web applications supporting the global subscription business
- Create internal tools and guided workflows for business teams to launch and manage Premium offers
- Develop GraphQL and gRPC APIs connecting front-end applications to distributed services
- Design efficient database schemas, execute data migrations, and optimize application performance using PostgreSQL
- Implement secure, auditable systems supporting financial operations and SOX-compliant approvals
- Collaborate across the Subscriptions Mission to enhance shared platform capabilities and developer experience
- Write maintainable, tested code and participate in architectural design, code reviews, and technical discussions
- Join an on-call rotation to maintain availability and reliability of Spotify Premium services
Requirements
- Experience building and delivering production software on the front end
- Practical background building modern web applications using TypeScript, React, and Next.js
- Familiarity with designing or consuming GraphQL APIs
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including queries, migrations, and schema design
- Commitment to writing reliable, tested, and maintainable software
Qualifications
- Prior work with gRPC services and Protocol Buffers
- Familiarity with tools such as jOOQ, Flyway, Apollo GraphQL, DataLoader, Styled Components, Storybook, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS, or Material UI
- Background building commerce platforms, subscription products, pricing systems, distributed systems, or large-scale platform modernization efforts
