Job Description
Affirm is recruiting a Small Business Account Executive II for its SMB Sales group. The role is remote, and the company does not sponsor visas for it. The group signs new merchant partners across online storefronts, physical retail, phone sales and the Affirm app, bringing on businesses that can lift conversion and sales.
The account executive runs the entire deal lifecycle for complicated, rapidly growing merchants in the upper-tier small business and mid-market range, including companies with as much as $300 million in annual sales. The job works like running a territory: building the account plan and pipeline, generating demand, reaching founders and senior executives, and assembling a quantified business case before proposing a tailored commercial solution.
Deal work also involves working with Sales Engineering and Onboarding on product setup and integration, handling procurement, security, legal and risk reviews, negotiating pricing and terms, and proposing non-standard arrangements that require internal sign-off. The account executive leads cross-functional deal teams and keeps each opportunity on track from signature through launch.
The role calls for at least four years closing full-cycle deals against a quota in B2B software, fintech, payment processing, online retail or a similarly complicated technology market, including a record of building new-logo pipeline independently. Forecast discipline, accurate CRM records and confident executive communication are expected. On-target earnings are $142,000 to $182,000 in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and $160,000 to $200,000 elsewhere in the United States.

- Generate pipeline through research, outbound outreach, partner channels, events and referrals
- Engage founders, C-suite leaders and functional heads to learn their priorities and how they decide
- Determine account strategy, competitive positioning and the route to close for each opportunity
- Assemble quantified business cases built on conversion, order value, GMV, revenue and unit economics
- Shape the merchant solution with Sales Engineering and Onboarding
- Map stakeholders, coordinate procurement, security, legal and risk reviews, and negotiate pricing and terms
- Lead cross-functional deal teams and manage critical launch dependencies after signature
- Keep the CRM current and deliver accurate weekly and quarterly forecasts
- Bring market and competitive intelligence to product and business partners
Requirements

- Skilled at consultative questioning, handling pushback, negotiating and closing
- Comfort reading merchant and market numbers and explaining their financial and strategic meaning
- Experience aligning legal, risk, technical, pricing, operations and implementation teams
- Solid territory planning, pipeline management and forecasting
- Clear, polished speaking and writing, including presentations to executives
Qualifications
- Experience selling payment, lending, commerce or financial software that requires technical integration
- Knowledge of online storefront systems, integration interfaces and how merchants earn money
- Familiarity with a formal selling framework like MEDDPICC, Challenger or Sandler
- Prior business development or high-volume prospecting
- A bachelor's degree, or hands-on experience that is equivalent
