Twilio is seeking a Software Architect (L6) to define and guide the technical vision across multiple domains and products at an enterprise scale. Operating remotely from locations within India such as Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Tamilnadu, the person in this position will establish architectural guardrails, tackle intricate technical challenges, and ensure system coherence. Twilio builds communication solutions that empower businesses and developers globally. This remote-first role suits a senior technical leader capable of driving cross-organizational initiatives, elevating engineering standards, and partnering closely with executive and product leadership. Occasional in-person attendance may be requested for team gatherings, functional off-sites, customer meetings, or project collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Determine and communicate the long-term architectural strategy across the organization
- Direct cross-product architecture reviews and establish standard engineering practices
- Resolve platform-wide and company-wide technical challenges
- Mentor principal and staff engineers to cultivate a strong culture of engineering excellence
- Collaborate with executive, engineering, and product leaders to guide strategic technical investments
Requirements
- More than 15 years of background in designing and scaling platforms and distributed systems
- Demonstrated capability in setting technical vision at a company-wide or enterprise level
- Deep expertise in system design, cost optimization, scalability, security, and reliability for large architectures
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and solving complex technical roadblocks
- Track record of mentoring senior engineering talent and raising organizational standards
- Strong verbal and written communication, leadership, and influence abilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Background in cloud-native and multi-region architectural patterns
- History of implementing engineering standards across multiple product lines or business units
- Familiarity with data architecture, observability, and platform capabilities at scale
- Open-source project leadership or substantial external technical impact
- Previous experience working in high-growth platform, communications, or SaaS companies
