Job Description
Zoox is building a ground-up, fully autonomous robotaxi fleet and the associated ecosystem to deliver urban mobility-as-a-service. The System Design and Mission Assurance team handles the safety case and fail-operational design for these autonomous vehicles prior to public road deployment. This full-time position operates on a hybrid schedule.
As a Software Development Engineer in Test focusing on Platform Safety Assurance, the professional will lead the creation of automation frameworks, testing tools, and clearance processes. This function suits individuals who enjoy building robust software infrastructure, solving complex validation challenges, and contributing to safety-critical technology.
Daily work involves developing automated validation frameworks for Hardware-In-the-Loop, simulation environments, and post-processing tasks. The person in this role will also build web applications to automate manual clearance procedures, create dashboards to display progress metrics, and debug system-level tests.
Responsibilities
- Build tools and web applications to automate and streamline manual clearance procedures
- Suggest tooling and feature ideas to enhance team operations
- Write software for automated validation frameworks utilized in simulation, post-processing, and Hardware-In-the-Loop system testing
- Build and maintain dashboards showing progress toward targets and identifying focus areas
- Run, triage, and troubleshoot automated verification and validation system tests
Requirements
- Experience developing automated test frameworks and tools for Hardware-In-the-Loop and/or Software-In-the-Loop
- Experience designing and building automated dashboards using data visualization software such as Looker or Grafana
- Object-oriented programming skills using Python
- Experience running and debugging automated tests, particularly with embedded systems or Hardware-In-the-Loop
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Experience creating tools and automation for verification and validation teams
- Experience building web applications using Streamlit
- Experience with continuous integration and build systems like Buildkite or Bamboo
- Experience integrating artificial intelligence into end-to-end test automation frameworks
- Familiarity with APIs for tools such as Jira, Polarion, and TestRail
