ServiceNow is hiring a Software Engineer for an on-site position in Bengaluru. This role focuses on developing artificial intelligence capabilities that are user-friendly and deliver practical value to clients. The position suits engineers who can write maintainable, scalable code while following rigorous engineering standards like automated testing and code reviews.
The chosen candidate will collaborate with product owners to interpret specifications, taking charge of projects from the initial design phase through implementation, testing, and final release. Responsibilities include engineering extendable software and APIs, building modular user interfaces for web, mobile, and workspace platforms, and troubleshooting client, server, and platform level issues reported by users. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to creating new product features and improving existing software suites.

Responsibilities
- Build and release AI-powered capabilities designed for user simplicity and customer value
- Produce clean, reusable, and scalable code following engineering best practices such as code reviews and unit testing
- Maintain high automated test coverage to ensure stability and production readiness
- Collaborate with product owners to interpret detailed product requirements
- Manage tasks end to end covering design, implementation, test automation, and delivery
- Design extensible software and APIs customized for specific user needs
- Create performant, accessible, and componentized user interfaces functioning across web, workspace, and mobile platforms
- Investigate and troubleshoot customer-reported defects and system escalations across client, server, and platform tiers
- Design and implement new product offerings while enhancing current product suites
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of professional experience working with Java or another object-oriented programming language
- Demonstrated strong skills in JavaScript
- Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design patterns, scale considerations, and performance
- Experience developing or integrating REST APIs
- Background in test automation paired with a strong focus on quality and a working knowledge of web accessibility
- Strong design, analytical, and debugging abilities
- Familiarity with standard development tools including IDEs, debuggers, build tools, source control, profilers, Unix tools, and ServiceNow instances
Qualifications
- Experience with a modern user interface framework such as Angular, React, or Vue
- Exposure to generative artificial intelligence or large language model features including prompting, grounding, and evaluating output quality
