Job Description
Affirm's Batch Developer Experience group works to speed up and stabilize how batch jobs are written and tested across the company's most important batch workloads. Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer II for this group in a remote role limited to candidates in the listed Canadian provinces. The engineer works alongside product and platform engineers to create tooling that smooths workflows, improves test coverage and raises reliability.
Day to day, the engineer splits larger efforts into tasks, ships them in stages, and collaborates with product management, design and analytics on concepts, technical limits and trade-offs. Other duties include building and watching metrics, raising issues when needed, supporting on-call rotations and routine operational care, and participating in interviews and team culture activities. Clear written and spoken communication is essential, since the engineering organization spans several countries.
Applicants should have at least 1.5 years as a software engineer, including experience designing, building and deploying backend services. Python or Kotlin proficiency is required, along with a grounding in distributed systems and tools such as AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes. Strong candidates can turn a practical business scenario into software that interacts with several components, produce tested and extensible code, navigate a sprawling codebase and debug code written by others. A bachelor-level degree or comparable hands-on background is accepted. The CAN base pay range is $133,000 to $183,000 per year.
