Job Description

Twilio is currently seeking a Software Engineer L3 to join its Compliance Experiences team on a remote basis in India. This group manages critical platform areas including telephone number allocation and Know Your Customer compliance requirements. The position involves guiding the design, execution, and operational performance of high-volume platform services while helping modernize legacy systems into a distributed microservices architecture.

The ideal candidate is someone who can independently drive end-to-end feature delivery, build reliable application programming interfaces, and embrace artificial intelligence-driven development workflows. Responsibilities include leveraging artificial intelligence assistants for prototyping and testing, collaborating with product managers to interpret complex regulations, and mentoring less experienced engineers. Candidates must be comfortable translating regulatory needs into executable logic while maintaining high standards for security and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the architecture and technical roadmap for the Phone Numbers Platform by shifting legacy systems to a distributed microservices setup
  • Utilize artificial intelligence coding assistants to generate tests, handle boilerplate code, and speed up software delivery
  • Make critical technical choices balancing rapid feature release with reliability and security
  • Partner with product managers to create developer-friendly application programming interfaces based on telecommunications rules
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while guiding them on reviewing artificial intelligence-generated code
  • Identify technical risks early and lead teams through production incident remediation
  • Draft design documents and request for comments documents for technical designs

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience designing and developing secure, highly available cloud-native enterprise distributed systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Java with knowledge of Amazon Web Services ecosystems such as Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, and Kafka
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure, microservices patterns, and resilient system design
  • Practical background using artificial intelligence tools like Copilot, Claude, or Cursor for software delivery
  • Experience developing and maintaining high-volume public-facing application programming interfaces
  • Familiarity with high-throughput data processing storage solutions, Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern continuous integration and continuous deployment paradigms
  • Ability to influence team technical decisions through communication and credibility
