In this position, the engineer will construct and maintain backend infrastructure, systems, and services dedicated to crypto, web3, and wallet features. The job involves developing technology that powers decentralized trading experiences, perpetual futures, and cross-chain capabilities while bridging traditional financial ledger systems with decentralized networks like Robinhood Chain.

This role is situated on-site at Robinhood offices requiring in-person attendance at least three days each week, based out of either Menlo Park or New York City. The position calls for builders capable of handling scalability, correctness, and idempotency challenges where software continuously handles active assets. Ideal candidates possess a strong foundation in backend architecture and cloud-native systems, coupled with a deep interest or willingness to rapidly master blockchain infrastructure, EVM mechanics, and smart contract integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend services and infrastructure for Web3, wallet, and tokenization platforms
  • Integrate traditional brokerage ledgers and market infrastructure with on-chain protocols, smart contracts, and decentralized exchange flows
  • Implement product features and platform upgrades that adhere to strict correctness and scalability standards
  • Enhance system performance, reduce operational risk, and boost engineering productivity
  • Partner with product, compliance, client teams, platform engineers, and external partners

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of software development experience
  • Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java
  • Understanding of cloud-native architecture, system design, and data modeling
  • Familiarity with correctness-critical concepts including idempotency, reconciliation, and failure mode analysis for financial transactions
  • Ability to work on-site at least three days per week in Menlo Park, California or New York City
