Job Description

Robinhood is seeking a Software Engineering Intern, Android for Summer 2027 to help expand its mobile platform and transform how users interact with financial services. Operating in a fast-paced and high-performance environment, the company focuses on democratizing finance as younger generations prepare to inherit trillions of dollars in assets.

In this internship position, the successful candidate will work end-to-end on meaningful tasks, creating innovative user interfaces and contributing to new features used daily by millions of people. The intern will collaborate closely with an assigned mentor, experienced engineers, and the internal design team throughout the full product lifecycle. Working with modern technologies such as Kotlin, RxJava 2, Retrofit/OkHttp, Dagger 2, and Room, the builder will gain deep technical insight into the financial domain.

This opportunity is based on-site in either the Menlo Park, California or New York, New York offices. In-person attendance is required at least three days per week to foster team collaboration and innovation. Compensation is structured around location-specific zones, with an expected base pay of $60 per hour for Zone 1 locations including Menlo Park and New York. Responsibilities

  • Partner with a dedicated mentor from onboarding through shipping software
  • Collaborate directly with the design team across the complete product lifecycle
  • Contribute to the creation of new features for the mobile platform
  • Explore and build innovative Android user interface and user experience designs
  • Write code utilizing Kotlin, RxJava 2, Retrofit/OkHttp, Dagger 2, and Room

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking educational program
  • Expected graduation date of Winter 2027 or Spring 2028
  • Demonstrated foundation in software engineering principles
  • Interest in front-end development, visually driven product design, and shaping user experience
  • Familiarity with Android components along with experience building or contributing to at least one Android application

Qualifications

  • Prior experience building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source projects
  • Familiarity with Kotlin, RxJava 2, Dagger 2, and related libraries used in the tech stack
