Job Description
Zoox is building a ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and its supporting ecosystem to deliver next-generation mobility-as-a-service in urban areas, operating at the intersection of machine learning, robotics, and design. The Product Security team manages structured security evaluations for Zoox products and implements security standards across the System Development Life Cycle. This hybrid, full-time position is designed for a professional with a solid systems engineering foundation and deep expertise in cybersecurity.
In this capacity, the incoming engineer will execute risk assessments by measuring security-related safety risks, partnering with cross-functional and safety teams, and supporting risk-informed engineering choices. Responsibilities include verifying quantified risks through simulation testing of real-world scenarios, drafting design proposals, driving execution, and communicating risks to partner groups. The role also involves spotting opportunities to integrate risk metrics into company-wide frameworks and collaborating broadly across software, hardware, and Product Security engineering teams while accounting for underlying engineering limitations.
Ideal candidates will bring a relevant Master's degree alongside professional experience, or possess familiarity with autonomous vehicle software stacks and cloud deployment architectures. Responsibilities
- Perform risk assessments by quantifying security-related safety risks
- Collaborate with safety and cross-functional teams to align safety and security objectives
- Drive the verification of quantified risks through simulation environment fuzzing
- Write design proposals and lead execution while communicating risks to partners
- Identify opportunities to incorporate risk metrics into company-wide frameworks
- Interface with multiple engineering groups across hardware, software, and Product Security
Requirements
- Master's degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline combined with 3 or more years of experience
- Strong general systems engineering background with expertise and passion in cybersecurity
- Prior experience using quantitative risk assessment frameworks such as EPSS, attack tree quantification, Monte Carlo simulations, or Bayesian networks
- Prior experience analyzing risks in complex embedded systems and creating high-quality written deliverables
- Pragmatic adoption of AI and LLM toolchains for security analysis and regulatory documentation
Qualifications
- Experience working with autonomous vehicle software stacks including perception, prediction, and planning
- Experience in implementing large-scale evaluation pipelines
- Familiarity with standard cloud deployment frameworks and architectures
