Canonical, a profitable and growing tech organization known for publishing Ubuntu and driving open-source software adoption globally, is currently hiring a remote Solutions Architect for Automotive. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor and customer advocate, assisting major industry partners and prospective clients with implementing open-source technologies in the automotive sector.

The position suits driven technologists who understand business problems and want to contribute to the creation of Software Defined Vehicles. You will collaborate with field engineering teams and other experts to deliver proofs of concept, build demos, and design comprehensive solutions. Canonical operates entirely as a distributed company with a global workforce spread across more than 70 countries. Team members work from home offices and gather in person two to four times a year in various global locations to coordinate on strategy and execution.

Candidates must possess a blend of automotive expertise, client-facing communication skills, and low-level software proficiency. Travel is required for this position, up to thirty percent of the time, to attend customer meetings, conferences, and company events. Responsibilities

  • Engage with prospective clients during presales to collect requirements and explain company technology
  • Partner with internal experts in fields like security, cloud, and Kubernetes to build comprehensive client solutions
  • Contribute to delivering select projects related to Embedded Linux, which includes building proofs of concept and demos
  • Communicate market requirements to key stakeholders and help refine generic solutions to unlock market potential
  • Serve as both a trusted advisor and customer advocate

Requirements

  • Extensive Linux experience, with Debian or Ubuntu preferred
  • Solid embedded Linux background utilizing RTOS or Yocto
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages including Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
  • Professional written and spoken English proficiency alongside local language skills
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Interest in client-facing tasks such as pitching, demonstrating, and understanding client environments
  • Result-oriented mindset with multitasking capabilities and personal drive to meet commitments
  • Willingness to travel up to 30 percent of the time for customer meetings, events, and conferences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Relevant experience working in the automotive industry
  • Familiarity with ISO26262 or ISO21434
  • Previous experience conducting customer engagements
