Swiggy is currently seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test to work on-site in Bengaluru. This is a technical individual contributor position requiring four to six years of professional experience. The professional in this role will take full ownership of establishing and executing comprehensive test automation strategies across functional and non-functional domains for web applications, mobile web, and embedded web views.
The chosen candidate will operate independently to handle complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. Core duties involve designing optimal short-term and long-term test plans, introducing new features and capabilities into the broader QA automation framework, and optimizing strategies to maximize return on investment. The position also requires building self-serve tools and utilities, managing test coverage reports for engineering teams and stakeholders, and delivering hands-on contributions across one or multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Set up and implement functional and non-functional test automation strategies for web apps, mobile web, and embedded web views
- Create optimal test strategies and plans for short-term and long-term projects covering functional, non-functional, analytics, and automation aspects
- Develop new capabilities and features within the automation framework utilized by the entire QA team
- Build self-serve tools and design database schemas for self-serve utilities
- Manage and maintain test coverage by delivering periodic reports to engineering and stakeholders
- Provide hands-on execution for single or multiple projects simultaneously
Requirements
- 4 to 6 years of professional experience
- Independent execution capability with prior experience managing complex projects and stakeholders
- Prior experience with visual regression, accessibility, performance testing, CI/CD integration using GitHub Actions or Jenkins, flaky-test management, and component testing
- Prior experience creating test automation frameworks and self-serve tools
- Automation experience for REST-based web services using Java
- Strong hands-on functional and non-functional automation experience for both web and REST services
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries using joins
- Hands-on experience designing database schemas for self-serve utilities
Qualifications
- Prior experience with TypeScript and end-to-end frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress
- Understanding of mobile app and web automation using Appium, Selenium, or TypeScript
- Understanding and implementation-level experience with design patterns
- Experience with Generative AI tooling for automation, testing, and regression quality improvement
- Familiarity with cloud managed services, specifically AWS
