The company is hiring a Sr Staff Software Engineer focused on Distributed Systems, Data Ingestion, Storage, and Analytics for its Health Log Analytics team. This remote, full-time position carries a base salary range of USD 171,900 to 300,800 per year.
The Health Log Analytics platform handles massive volumes of operational logs for enterprise users, covering data collection, routing, durable storage, and rapid querying through OpenTelemetry and a custom Rust-based log storage engine. This individual will serve as a senior technical leader, collaborating with engineering and product groups to guide platform evolution. Responsibilities include building prototypes to test architectural concepts, establishing standards for system reliability and efficiency, managing complex data migrations, and mentoring experienced engineers.
Ideal candidates possess extensive experience designing and operating production-scale distributed systems, along with strong technical capabilities in data ingestion, storage engines, and cloud infrastructure like Kubernetes. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to help shape the Health Log Analytics roadmap
- Engage directly with customers to gather feedback and translate user needs into actionable product inputs
- Establish architectural direction across data ingestion, storage, and querying functions
- Develop functional prototypes to demonstrate technical points and secure team alignment
- Define and enforce reliability and efficiency standards covering latency, availability, durability, tenant isolation, and unit costs
- Lead technical approaches for complex data migrations, schema adjustments, and system upgrades
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while setting expectations for incident response and quality
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of experience building and operating production distributed systems with large-scale data platforms
- Familiarity with data ingestion tools such as Kafka, Pulsar, or Kinesis
- Experience with columnar stores, time-series databases, object-storage designs, or Elasticsearch and OpenSearch
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure at scale
- Proficiency in at least one programming language among Go, Java, Scala, Rust, and Python
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate AI integrations, data quality, and related operational costs
Qualifications
- Background in observability, log analytics, OpenTelemetry, or AIOps
- Prior experience working at an AI-native company or building agentic and large language model features
- Familiarity with multitenant SaaS environments and per-tenant isolation strategies
