Zoox is seeking a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager to guide Body, Closures and Chassis systems from initial concept through full production. This role acts as the central connection point between high-level milestones and hands-on technical execution, balancing cost, quality, manufacturing needs, and vehicle performance attributes. The ideal candidate will take charge of major assemblies, steer bill of materials integrity, and collaborate closely with both internal engineering teams and outside suppliers.

In this position, professionals will map out schedules, tackle intricate technical roadblocks, and manage risk mitigation strategies across multiple departments. Responsibilities include running design reviews, overseeing manufacturing mock-builds, and driving root-cause analyses for design issues. This opportunity suits experienced automotive program managers who possess deep technical backgrounds in mechanical design and a proven history of steering complex, cross-functional hardware projects through New Product Introduction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the program and technical lead for vehicle systems across Body, Closures, and Chassis.
  • Collaborate with internal engineers and external supplier design teams to direct engineering execution.
  • Manage bill of materials integrity, approve critical build processes, and drive quality and cost initiatives.
  • Develop program schedules and partner with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate technical risks and progress updates across the organization.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and track design issues affecting vehicle performance, quality, and production readiness.
  • Influence system designs through top-level design reviews, failure mode and effects analyses, validation programs, and mock-builds.

Requirements

  • Have 12+ years of deep automotive engineering experience focused on Body, Closures or Chassis design and project management.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with advanced automotive engineering tools and methodologies such as CATIA V5/V6, PLM/BOM management, and FMEA/FTA.
  • Use project management tools including JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, Gantt charts, ERP, and ALM.
  • Show experience designing for attributes like crash, NVH, reliability, strength, and corrosion.
  • Exhibit a track record of managing cross-functional projects and delivering components via external design suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Possess end-to-end New Product Introduction experience.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels from peers and suppliers to executive management.
  • Be able to travel globally as required.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Display familiarity with hardware and firmware product development along with vehicle CAN and firmware.
