In this position, the professional will split their time between engineering the core AI platform and implementing large language models directly into user-facing features.
This role is well-suited for an experienced backend and infrastructure specialist who excels at building scalable, secure, and reliable systems for model deployment and orchestration. The candidate will design and maintain APIs, set up model serving and monitoring infrastructure, and connect with multiple large language model providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Additionally, the engineer will champion data privacy and security compliance, while collaborating alongside product, frontend, and data divisions to deliver dependable, user-centric experiences.

Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable platform services for managing the deployment, orchestration, and lifecycle of AI models.
- Implement large language models and related technologies to create and improve intelligent product features.
- Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs for smooth integration into the core application.
- Construct infrastructure dedicated to model serving, logging, performance monitoring, and automated evaluation.
- Manage connections to multiple large language model providers, overseeing routing, fallback strategies, model selection, performance, and expenses.
- Enforce standards for data security, privacy, compliance, and data anonymization.
- Enhance platform cost-efficiency, scalability, and performance using distributed systems and cloud-native tools.
- Incorporate emerging innovations in MLOps and AI infrastructure into the platform.
- Partner with product, data, and frontend teams to launch reliable AI experiences.
Requirements
- Extensive professional background in creating and designing scalable machine learning and AI infrastructure in production environments.
- Proven history of integrating artificial intelligence models and large language models into real-world product solutions.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, and backend engineering, including tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and major cloud providers.
- Demonstrated experience managing and connecting multiple AI models with a solid grasp of their limitations and operational needs.
- Proficiency with workflow engines and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Ray, Airflow, or Kubeflow.
- Strong software development capabilities in backend and AI platform languages like Python, Go, or TypeScript.
- Experience with MLOps practices, covering model monitoring, logging, automated evaluation, and deployment.
- Ability to manage data protection regulations and address AI security challenges like data anonymization.
