The company is currently expanding its safety and moderation division and seeks a Staff Backend Engineer to join the User Safety team. This role focuses on identifying policy-violating content and users ahead of time through applied machine learning and automated detection systems. Ideal candidates thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous settings and possess strong drive to handle technical strategy, product execution, and architecture across the site.
The position is available as fully remote within the United States, with optional access to company offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago for individuals who wish to work on-site.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across departments with product teams, data scientists, and operations personnel to advance platform safety strategies
- Manage the complete software lifecycle encompassing design, implementation, testing, experimentation, data analysis, and product release
- Evaluate code submissions and technical design documents to guide engineering roadmaps
- Supervise and mentor a team of engineers to enhance developer workflows and professional growth
- Create novel solutions and continuously build technical and non-technical capabilities
Requirements
- Minimum of eight years of professional software development experience using general-purpose languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby
- Possess a bachelor degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrate solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain project schedules
- Exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset with self-directed and action-oriented habits in dynamic environments
