Faire operates a global technology wholesale marketplace connecting independent local retailers with brands using data and machine learning. The engineering organization builds the marketplace software, while the platform group provides infrastructure and tooling for product engineering, data science, and finance teams to operate efficiently and securely.
Faire is seeking a Staff Engineer for their Experimentation Platform. This technical leadership position requires a balance of high-level strategic direction and hands-on software development. The person in this role will guide the adoption of experimentation infrastructure across internal groups, defining standards for metrics, experiment lifecycles, and result interpretations. The position suits an experienced technical leader focused on analytics infrastructure and SaaS scaling.
Employees operate under a hybrid work model involving three days in the office per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a flexible third day chosen from Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, with up to four weeks of remote work flexibility per year.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute a long-term strategy for measurement and experimentation across the entire company
- Establish a technology roadmap for a centralized experimentation platform integrated with Faire's data ecosystem
- Develop measurement infrastructure, self-service tooling, governance procedures, and experiment lifecycles
- Set standards for experiment design, metric creation, and result interpretation
- Collaborate with internal consumers of experimentation infrastructure including Strategy and Analytics, Product Management, and Data Science
Requirements
- Extensive software engineering experience focusing on experimentation, analytics infrastructure, and product development
- Demonstrated ability to define technical visions for experimentation and drive adoption across organizational boundaries
- Extensive background in designing, building, and scaling SaaS experimentation platforms
- Comprehensive knowledge of A/B testing, multivariate testing, progressive delivery techniques, and feature rollouts
- Demonstrated capability to translate business goals into measurement and experimentation capabilities
- Hands-on experience implementing and operating commercial or open-source experimentation platforms
- Familiarity with experiment lifecycle management and core methodologies
- Working knowledge of modern data stacks, including Snowflake and Databricks
- Experience using data quality and observability tools such as Anomalo
- Strong SQL proficiency and the capability to design scalable analytical data models
