The company is searching for a remote Staff Platform Engineer based in Brazil to join its Platform division with a focus on the Observability ecosystem.
In this position, you will build and run a high-scale platform utilizing open-source standards on Kubernetes and AWS. Rather than simply maintaining existing systems, you will design self-service platform tools, establish golden paths for developer instrumentation, and balance performance against operational costs. The engineering team utilizes open-source technology, writes tools in Go, Ruby, or Python, and relies heavily on AI solutions.
This role suits individuals with solid cloud and Kubernetes fundamentals who enjoy tackling challenging infrastructure obstacles and streamlining developer workflows. You will collaborate daily through design pairings, proposal reviews, and technical mentorship. Candidates must be fluent in both English and Portuguese.
Responsibilities
- Review the existing platform infrastructure, propose improvements, and help evolve system components
- Design and scale cloud-native platform elements utilizing Kubernetes and Amazon Web Services
- Construct abstractions including templates, default settings, command-line interfaces, and operators to empower independent team management
- Identify root causes of reliability, cost, and developer experience challenges to resolve them at the platform level
- Establish standards and write technical documents via Request for Comments
- Engage daily with team members by pairing on designs, assessing proposals, and serving as a technical mentor
Requirements
- Prior production experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Deep working knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem from operating live clusters
- Software engineering proficiency to write code that automates tasks and creates internal tooling
- Previous infrastructure, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering background supporting multiple dependent teams
- Practical experience applying metrics, logs, or traces in a production environment
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Portuguese
- Residency in Brazil with availability for a remote work arrangement
Qualifications
- Practical background utilizing open-source tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Tempo, or Pyroscope
- Experience developing command-line interfaces, internal developer tools, Kubernetes operators, or Crossplane
- Familiarity with service mesh solutions such as Istio or Linkerd
- Cost optimization and FinOps experience
- CNCF certifications including CKA, CKS, CKAD, PCA, or OTCA
