Job Description

GitLab is recruiting a Staff Product Manager for an internal platform role within the Revenue Lifecycle and Finance Systems team, which belongs to the Enterprise Technology Architecture group. The job is internal and does not face outside customers. The holder owns the multi-quarter internal roadmap for quote-to-cash and finance systems, including Salesforce CPQ, Zuora, NetSuite and CDot metering, and speaks for the business inside engineering.

The role turns input from sales, deal desk, revenue operations and finance into sequenced system capabilities that have clear outcomes and measures of success. It weighs stabilisation work against new capabilities and debt reduction using explicit trade-off frameworks, and runs quarterly and annual planning alongside engineering managers and business systems analysts. The Staff Product Manager runs discovery and requirements sessions, leads product strategy for significant programmes such as usage-based billing, contract lifecycle and order form work, Zuora catalogue restructuring and ERP tuning, and sets the user acceptance approach. Post-launch stabilisation is also overseen.

Compliance responsibilities include Sarbanes-Oxley controls, audit requirements and revenue recognition under ASC 606 and IFRS 15. The Staff Product Manager coaches business systems analysts in product thinking, requirement design and roadmap communication, and works with enterprise architects when deciding whether to build, buy or configure a capability.

The ideal candidate has at least eight years of product management, including at least three in internal platform, enterprise application or systems leadership. Strong knowledge of quote-to-cash is essential, and hands-on configuration or implementation work with Salesforce CPQ, Zuora and NetSuite is greatly valued. The person should grasp the revenue cycle from quote through to financial close, have worked under Sarbanes-Oxley controls, and be able to talk about interfaces and data models without programming. Experience of usage-based pricing models is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Hold ownership of the internal roadmap for quote-to-cash and finance systems, spanning several quarters
  • Turn input from sales, deal desk, revenue operations and finance into prioritised capabilities
  • Weigh stabilisation, new capabilities and technical debt through clear trade-off frameworks
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, requirement workshops and process design meetings
  • Lead product strategy for major programmes from discovery through go-live
  • Own user acceptance testing strategy and acceptance criteria with business systems analysts
  • Coach business systems analysts on product craft and career development
  • Work with enterprise architects on build, buy or configure decisions

Requirements

  • At least eight years in product management, including three or more in internal platform or enterprise systems leadership
  • Deep domain knowledge of the quote-to-cash stack
  • Ability to own and explain multi-quarter roadmaps to senior stakeholders
  • Thorough grasp of the revenue lifecycle, including ASC 606 and financial close
  • Experience working under Sarbanes-Oxley controls
  • Track record running complex, multi-programme delivery with shared engineering resources
  • Technical fluency to discuss interfaces, data models and integrations without writing code

Qualifications

  • Practical configuration or deployment work on core systems is strongly preferred
  • Experience with usage-based billing models

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Flexible paid time off
  • Team member resource groups
